VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Thank you for your interest in becoming an IceHouse volunteer. Your enthusiasm and participation are vital to producing quality theatre. Please take a moment to review the following descriptions and call the Business Office at 352-383-3133 ext 1.
 

   

General Assistance

  • Ushers - Every main stage production requires four ushers to assist patrons.
     

  • Concessions - Every main stage production requires two concessions volunteers to sell food and drinks.
     

  • Cleaning - Keeping lobby and restrooms clean and presentable between shows.  
     

  • Grounds - Lawn mowing, weeding, trimming, planting etc.
     

  • Maintenance - Attend to plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance
     

  • Fund Raising - From selling raffle tickets at the shows to coordinating special events.
     

  • Grant Writing - Researching & writing grants to fund special projects and general operations support


Production Crew

  • Set Construction - Construct sets for shows
     

  • Set Decoration/Painting - Painting, wallpapering, furniture covering, sewing, drapes, etc.
     

  • Properties - Procure props for the performance.
     

  • Prop Running Crew - Make changes of props during performance. Keep props in working order, replenish consumable props.
     

  • Stage Manager - Maintains prompt script (blocking, sound & light cues- note prop and costume changes) runs the show and calls the cues.
     

  • Lights - Helps designer set and gel lights. The use of a ladder required.
     

  • Light Board Operator - Runs light board during production.
     

  • Follow Spot Operator(s) - Run Spot Lights.
     

  • Sound Operator - Runs queued sound effects and microphones, if used.
     

  • Running Crew - Make set changes during production.
     

  • Work Parties - Project oriented teams for production related maintenance including set building, striking the set on the Monday following the final performance.
     

Costumes
 

  • Costume Designer - Meets with director, reads script and submits designs to director, locates resources for fabric, rental or borrowing of costumes and oversees costume crew.
     

  • Costume Coordinator - Oversees costume crew if designer cannot.  Finds costumes not being made and returns rented or borrowed costumes.
     

  • Costume Crew Sewers - Sew & fit costumes
     

  • Costume Seamstress Master - Keeps costumes cleaned, mended and pressed throughout production and manages the costume department in-between productions.
